               Army Combat Action Badge

Now is the time for all 585th Association members to contact their U.S.Senators on this pending legislation. Yesterday I contacted my 4 Senators;2 from Florida and two from Georgia. The easiest procedure, for those with computer access, is to use the Senate message system. Just go on your search engine and enter the last name of your Senator, followed by   .senate.gov  Don't forget those two dots between name.senate.gov  If they have a common name;example Bill Nelson in Florida uses billnelson.senate.gov . chambliss.senate.gov is Saxby Chambliss's handle.

Here is a sample message for you to consider. " Please do not recess before approving Subtitle G, Sec 575 to the Defense Authorization Act; HR 2647,which authorizes the Secretary of the Army to Retroactively Award the Army Combat Action Badge to eligible Army war veterans back to 7 December 1941. This legislation will right a wrong long ignored by the Department of the Army."

You may choose to accomplish this task via a telephone call or personal letter. I've used all three options and believe the email option to be the best. Remember to send your email to both of your U.S. Senators, even if you believe one is doing most of your legislation and assistance work. Both Senators work for you as a team to cover your state.
