585th Reunion Raffle:
Due to the location of
our 6th Reunion, we will need a new approach to our Reunion Raffle at
Las Vegas. It's not possible for me to collect and carry the large
number of prizes due to my traveling to Vegas via commercial airlines.
In all past reunions, I have driven my SUV loaded with prizes and bar
supplies. Some of you, thanks very much, have informally donated to
raffles at past reunions.
The Reunion Raffle is
very important to the 585th Association as it is the major source of
funding for our operations/projects. As the Vice-President for Finance &
Legislation I can assure you our organization needs a reliable source of
funds to maintain our website, purchase awards for outstanding service,
support worthwhile organizations and projects and maintain an account to
meet unforeseeable future needs.
When seriously
considering the aforementioned, I am requesting all members
attending our 6th Reunion in Las Vegas, if possible, bring a prize for
our Raffle. Your support is essential for this fund raising event.
Thanks in advance for your present and past support of our worthwhile
organization.

It has been suggested we
try "Home Town/State" Reunions to see how this will work for us. With
this in mind, we are requesting all Members attending our 6th Reunion at
Las Vegas, who are interested in bringing our 7th 585th Reunion to
their home area(s), to accomplish some research before attending Las
Vegas. Make some calls to the Hotel(s) you would like to see host
our Members at the 7th Reunion in February 2011. Layout a rough plan on
how we will spend our time in your area of the United States. J.B. wants
us to go to Hawaii, but, remember he is not a voting member of the 585th
Association. Ha!
Be prepared to brief
your suggested location(s) plans at the 585th Association Business
meeting, 0800, Friday, 9 OCT 2009. The briefing Member will be permitted
to have his wife/significant other at the Business Meeting to assist if
needed. Please include all costs, in your rough plan, except for
transportation to/from the reunion, for a 585th Association Member to
attend your "Home Town/State" reunion. For planning purposes, we have
always paid $25.00 per person, taxes and tips inclusive; beef, chicken
or fish, dessert, coffee or tea, for our banquets. Use 75 rooms in
planning hotel occupancy levels.
The 585th Association
Officer Point of Contact (POC) on this project is Ken Seymour, Summer
478-387-0187, Winter 352-527-3200. Feel free to call him at any
reasonable time.

Mark your calendars and start saving your pennies
In speaking on behalf of all the members that attended the last four, we would love to see as many members on our roster as possible attend this next reunion and to bring their families.
Remember, we are on this earth but for a short time and there are no guarantees that all will be around for a Seventh Reunion, as we have found to hold true for the past few years.
I attended 4, and had a fantastic time and will be going to the next one (God Willing). Tom Garney
