Draft Letter on HR 2267, subject to review and change by Post Commander.

 Dear Congressman or Congresswoman XXXXXXXX,

This week, Director Steve Robertson, The National Legislative Commission, The American Legion, Washington D.C. sent Thank You letters to the eight members of The House of Representatives who have signed onto HR 2267 as Co-Sponsors. We noticed our local reps have not taken the necessary action to become Co-Sponsors of HR 2267 and we respectfully urge you to expeditiously do so. This organization and its’ members are very much in favor of HR 2267 and the positive impact it’s passage will have on thousands of veterans who served in active combat, in many different wars, from World War II to 18 September 2001.

Please come out publicly in support of HR 2267, the Army Combat Action Badge Bill, written to recognize all United States Army combat veterans who have been left without a badge signifying their having been engaged in direct hostile fire with enemy forces opposed to the United States of America.

In closing, it is our intent to contact the local and State newspapers/ television stations for coverage after we receive your timely reply to this important request. This letter is just the beginning, as The American Legion is going country wide, full press, to get HR 2267 passed. We are hopeful you will quickly sign onto HR 2267 as a Co-Sponsor, so we can blitz this area and the State of Georgia with a publicity campaign highlighting your positive actions in helping thousands of combat veterans.

Hi John – Letter(s), signed by all Post 6 members present/possible, should go to all members of congress(house only), who represent the areas covering homes of all Post 6 members. I want to ensure Jim Marshall gets one of these letters. General Boylan and myself wrote him letters and we received a standard response. Basically, if the bill gets on the floor for a vote, he’ll consider our views. Dale Barnett email: dbarnett74@bellsouth.net and Steve Robertson email: srobertson@legion.org . Thanks to you John and Post 6 members for your support of HR 2267
